My sister was bailed out of a Contra Costa County Jail a few months back. Our brother lives in Texas and he’s getting married at the end of the month and she’s supposed to be in the wedding. The problem is that her case isn’t over yet and we’re worried she’ll get in trouble if she leaves the state. Can she travel when she’s out on bail bonds?
In most cases, a defendant is permitted to travel while they are out on bail bonds. You will, however, want to check with the Contra Costa bail bondsman that helped you to see if their company, or the court, has any restrictions in place. If there is some sort of court mandated restriction (which would be extremely unusual) you’ll want to talk to your attorney to see about getting a travel exception. As long as your sister doesn’t have a mandatory court appearance scheduled during the time she’s planning on being in Texas, she should be OK.
