What is a bail bond?
A bail bond, also called a surety bond, is a contract in which a bail bondsman, licensed by the state, guarantees the court that a defendant will return to court after they have been released on bail. The bondsman does this in exchange for a fee of 10% of the full bail amount.
Contra Costa bail amounts are set by county judges on an annual basis according to the criminal charges.
