A local teenager has been arrested and transported to the Contra Costa County Jail and is being held on $2,050,000 bail. The defendant, Daniel Castano, is the prime suspect in the murder of 17-year old Fernando Gonzalez.
Gonzales was reportedly found shot dead inside his call. Sheriff’s deputies attempted to revive the youth through the use of CPR but their efforts were not successful. The county coroner said the cause of death was gunshot wounds to the chest. The incident took place about four months ago.
A spokesperson for the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department said they tracked the suspect to home in Antioch. Deputies surrounded the residence with the expectation that Castano would try to run. He did attempt to flee the scene but was captured in the yard of a neighboring home. In addition to being charged with murder Castano faces a gang enhancement due to his believed association to a criminal street gang.
The cost to arrange bail bonds in this county will be 10% of the defendant’s total bail amount. Collateral will be needed for a bond of this size. If the client is unable to pay the full cost up front they may consider looking for a bondsman that can assist them with a monthly payment option. They will also want to keep in mind that the money they pay to an expert bail agent is a non-refundable fee for the service they provide.
