The driver of a stolen vehicle that was involved in a head-on vehicle crash has been arrested, police said.
The incident happened in late-July, according to a report by EastCountyToday.net, when police were informed that a vehicle that had been traveling the wrong way on westbound Highway 4 had gotten into a head-on collision with a minivan.
Seven adults and two children were injured, police said.
Two of the injured needed to be transported to a nearby hospital by a medical helicopter.
The driver of the stolen vehicle has since been identified as 24-year-old Rafael Duartey, of Oakley. Duarte has been booked at the Martinez Detention Facility and he’s been charged with Felony DUI, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving without a license, driving without insurance and driving the wrong way on the highway causing injury.
Police and sheriff’s department officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to please come forward.
The investigator, they said, is ongoing.
