Sources within the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department have confirmed that deputies have arrested 52 year-old Jian Fang on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana.
The incident happened in late January, according to a report by the Contra Costa Times, when officers pulled over a man who was driving a car that had expired registration tags.
During the course of the traffic stop they also learned that the driver was operating the vehicle despite having an expired driver’s license; he was also on active probation on a case out of San Francisco County.
Police towed the van, according to the Times, and they also discovered a large bag inside of it. That bag, they said, was holding roughly four pounds of marijuana. Another bag containing an additional three pounds of marijuana was found in the back of the vehicle.
The now-defendant was booked at the Martinez Jail on $10,000 bail bonds.
