A number of crimes have been reported recently, all of which have been responded to by members of the El Cerrito Police Department. All captured suspects have been booked into the Martinez Jail. Bail amounts for the defendants will vary widely based on the severity and nature of the crimes they are being accused of. Those who are eligible for bail can hire a Contra Costa bondsman may do so at a rate equal to 10% of their set bail amount.
Some of the incidents that have been responded to have included reports of robbery, domestic violence and auto burglaries. During the robbery the suspect reportedly approached the victim and produced a gun. That person was ordered to empty their pockets and to turn over all items of value. The suspect is described as being an African American male who is over 6’0 tall. That perpetrator remains at large.
At the time officers responded to the domestic disturbance call an unidentified man was arrested and booked into the Martinez Jail. Bail information was not readily available but it is believed to have been set between $25,000 and $50,000 depending on the exact booking charge.
Officers said that the victims who reported the residential burglary said their home was ransacked and electronics of an undisclosed value were unlawfully taken from the premises. An arrest has not yet been made.
Victims who reported having their cars broken into said valuables including wallets, cell phones and laptops were taken from inside parked vehicles. Those items have not been recovered. It is unclear whether the incidents are related. Police are asking anyone who has additional information to come forward and place an anonymous tip.
