Members of the Orinda Police Department said they have taken several crime and incident reports in the past several weeks. Below are just a handful of those calls.
In the last week of May, a resident came into the Orinda PD to report their identity had been stolen. The exact nature of the crime is unknown and it’s unclear whether a suspect has been caught. Police are urging all residents to be careful when providing personal identifying information, like a driver’s license number, social security number and date of birth to people on the phone or via a website.
Later that same day, officers responded to an auto burglary and they also took a report about a vandalism incident that took place on Moraga Way
In the following days detectives investigated the theft of a bank access card, a residential burglary and a hit-and-run accident. At least three other incidents of identity theft were also reported, they said.
