A woman who managed to escape from the Martinez Jail has been captured, according to a report by Kron4.com.
The fugitive, who has been identified as Nakiya Hutcherson, was arrested at a residence in Richmond, police said. Officers confirm she was taken into custody without incident.
Hutcherson was initially arrested several days prior for trespassing and vandalism charges; she escaped from custody while she was in the jail’s driveway. Based on the nature of the charges, authorities did not feel she was a threat to the community.
It’s not immediately clear whether the defendant has a prior history of arrest, or whether she will face additional charges relating to the jail escape. Authorities have also not indicated how they came to track Hutcherson down, or whether anyone at the residence will be charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive.
Anyone who believes they have additional information on this case is asked to contact local law enforcement.
