A spokesperson for the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department said three men have been taken into custody and is being charged with selling cocaine. The men in question are Antonio Gonzlaes, Jose Mendoza and Juan Garibay. All have been booked and charged with conspiracy in addition to possession and sales of illegal drugs.
The drug task force has been investigating the trio for weeks. They were first tipped off to potential illegal activity when an anonymous tipster informed the department that Garibay had been seen selling drugs at various locations. Undercover officers were sent to investigate and were able to buy drugs from his partner.
Cocaine was reportedly purchased on five separate occasions, they said. Deputies said the investigation also pointed them in the direction of two believed distributors. All three suspects have pled not guilty. They are each being held on $20,000 bail.
The cost to purchase bail bonds in Contra Costa County is 10% of the total bail amount. The cost to hire a bondsman to post a bond for all three defendants would be $6,000, or $2,000 each. When someone cosigns a bail contract they are taking responsibility for two things. First and foremost they are taking responsibility the defendant will go to court. They are also agreeing to adhere to the agreed upon payment terms and acknowledging the fee they pay to the bondsman is nonrefundable.
